A�remarkable collection of short prose from Dixiane Hallaj and a group of very talented authors. Revenge is sweet, even if it takes thirty years as it did in "Russell Fehmer's War." In the "Hero of Stolen Time," Ratscrap breaks into a necromancer's home to loot it, but his plan backfires when he is injected with a magic potion that sends him into time. Jeremy is frustrated when the army declares him unfit to fight in WW2 and he decides to prove them wrong in "The Testament of Courage." "Silent Night, Stille Nacht" is an emotional story of enemies agreeing to a temporary truce so they can celebrate Christmas Day together before resuming their battle the next day.
Spies & Heroes is written by authors from different countries, hence the differences in spelling and punctuation. I enjoyed reading this delightful selection, and found most of the stories very meaningful, and thought provoking. The authors are creative with strong writing skills that make their stories appeal to the reader. One of the things that I liked were the remarkable, sometimes unforeseen conclusions that put me in a reflective mood after reading them. I was moved by the many evocative emotions that these authors put into their writing when their characters shared their thoughts. Spies & Heroes: An International Anthology of Stories is a book that I highly recommend to readers.����

Great, feel good reading!

Silent Night, Stille Nacht
Silent Night, Stille Nacht is a must read, not only for the holiday season, but for year round enjoyment and inspiration. It is a story that inspires hope for the future and hope for the human soul. It is the story of, Nathaniel, a young soldier gone off the war, and the parallel stories of his family, family memories and his fellow soldiers.
War, a human tragic flaw, will always be with us. It is a flaw that devastates all that we love but it is a flaw that inspires hope for a better future and is just as relevant today as it was in the World War I era. The “light” which dwells in all of our souls has the power to overcome our flaws and give us peace; we just need to find the path to make it so.
The author uses the written letter/invitation as the device to, seamlessly weave the tale together, and to give us all hope for the possibility of a better future.

Spies & Heroes - great read!

This book is a great read to curl up with and enjoy all at once or pause in between each story at a time. Each story is unique and might involve history, myth, romance, tragedy. For example, Silent Night/Stille Nacht by Maria McVoy is a fun read as she marvelously weaves a story about a Christmas celebration on a battlefield. She cleverly uses history and drama to make this a real page turner.
All of the stories are delightfully entertaining and worth the read!

I really enjoyed reading Spies and Heroes

I really enjoyed reading Spies and Heroes. Its first story Superman Can Find another Girl covers young woman’s inner journey in pursue of happiness. It is engaging and easy to read, yet the messages it carries definitely provide some food for thought, while the twist near the end of the story makes you want to read it all over again. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to be reminded that more often than not happiness can be found in simple things.
