About the Author
Peggy Porschen grew up in Germany, a country renowned for its cakes. She moved to London in 1998 graduating top of her class at the prestigious Cordon Bleu school. From there, she went on to work as a pattissiere at the Lanesborough Hotel and with master baker Gerhart Jenne at Konditor and Cook on London's South Bank. Her work is much in demand and she has recently started supplying cakes to Fortnum and Mason. Her designs have also featured in magazines and newspapers such as OK, the Daily Mail and Brides magazine.

Cake recipe questionable (bake at 400 degrees ????)but decorating ideas are good.

This book has some really pretty cakes and cookies. After reading through the book I decided to bake a cake using her recipe (I usually stick to Zoe Clarkes recipe).
Anyway the temperature instructs you to bake the cake at 400 degrees! Of course, my cake was a disaster, it burned at the top and was uncooked. I cannot understand why you would bake a cake at this high a temperature. Waste of ingredients and time. However, her decorating ideas are good.

I gave it away after it arrived. Beautiful cover, but not what I wanted. Perfectly finished baked desserts I guess are not my thing. I realize now I love rustic desserts.

Love this book

I've used this book over and over again. The cake flavors are delicious... The lemon is always a big hit. The steps are broken down clearly and there are a lot of really cute ideas in this book. I've made some of the cakes the way they are shown and also just used some of the different techniques from different recipes to design my own.
