She's attracted to boys who wear sagging jeans and smell of marijuana smoke—boys her more conservative friends disapprovingly call "thugs" and "hoodlums." But Kennedy's bored with dating the nerds her parents and friends like; she's determined to break out of her safe world in a gated community and experience life. Soon, she is defying her mother, staying out all night, drinking, partying, and generally making poor decisions. She meets Blaze, who seems like bad news, though he might have a warm heart beneath his tough exterior. However, Kennedy falls for Malik, who thrills and romances her. She ignores all of the warning signs, choosing Malik over her friends when they try to warn her against him. It takes a catastrophic event and serious consequences to help Kennedy see the error of her ways, though by then it may be too late. While most of the characters are shallow and stereotypical, and the slang-filled dialogue can be a challenge to read, Kennedy is an appealing protagonist and the fast-paced story will keep teens glued to the page. Fans of YA street lit authors, such as Ni-Ni Simone and L. Caught up is the perfect phrase for this one!

Kennedy is a Black girl from the suburbs who is bored and looking for some fun in the hood. She ends of finding exactly what she's looking for and more. Kennedy was so na�ve that she came across as stupid. Poor thing learned her lesson the hard way. This is a great choice for a teenage discussion group.

About the Author
Roger LeRoy Miller has served on the faculty of several universities, including the University of Washington, Clemson University, and the University of Miami School of Law. As professor he has taught intellectual property law, entertainment law, and other subjects. A widely published and respected author, his work has appeared in the Insurance Counsel Journal, Defense Research, California Trial Lawyers Journal, Antitrust Bulletin, Wisconsin Law Review, and Connecticut Law Review. He has authored or co-authored numerous authoritative textbooks on law, including BUSINESS LAW: TEXT & CASES, BUSINESS LAW TODAY: TEXT & SUMMARIZED CASES, and THE LEGAL ENVIRONMENT TODAY. He completed his studies at the University of California at Berkeley and University of Chicago.

Gaylord A. Jentz was the Herbert D. Kelleher Emeritus Centennial Professor in Business Law at the University of Texas at Austin Graduate School of Business. He received his B.A., M.B.A., and J.D. degrees from the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Jentz was a past president of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business, the Southwestern Federation of Administrative Disciplines, the Southern Business Law Association, Phi Kappa Phi (UT Chapter), and the Texas Association of College Teachers. He was the author or coauthor of six monographs and 56 books and editions, including WEST'S BUSINESS LAW: TEXT & CASES, Tenth Edition; FUNDAMENTALS OF BUSINESS LAW, Seventh Edition; and several versions of BUSINESS LAW TODAY. He also published in several learned journals and was past editor-in-chief of the American Business Law Journal. Frank B. Cross is the Herbert D. Kelleher Centennial Professor of Business Law at The University of Texas at Austin Law School, where his research centers on judicial decision-making, the economics of law and litigation, and traditional policy and doctrinal issues in administrative law. He has written several books as well as pieces for the YALE LAW JOURNAL, COLUMBIA LAW REVIEW, UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO LAW REVIEW, NEW YORK UNIVERSITY LAW REVIEW, TEXAS LAW REVIEW, VIRGINIA LAW REVIEW, CORNELL LAW REVIEW, GEORGETOWN LAW JOURNAL, NORTHWESTERN LAW REVIEW, and UCLA LAW REVIEW. My name is Steven Burda and I purchased and read this book from start to finish, with interest. Great book. Very helpful and insightful. The subject of Business Law, Court Rules, Family Law and Domestic Relations is near and dear to me, as a Dad who loves his kids and family more than anything, I can tell you this reading is worth your time. Knowledge is power, and you will learn plenty from this powerful reading. I highly recommend this reading. I am from Pennsylvania myself.

Fine textbook and great home reference

This book is even better than the excellent business law textbook I used (but no longer have) in college in the late 1960's. It has all the utilitarian features necessary for a textbook but likewise has enough depth and user-friendliness for a home reference tome.
The only significant criticism I can offer is that, for a book in this very high price range, it should have a more durable binding. It does have full cloth-covered hardback covers *but* the page section is only "perfect-bound" (i.e., pages held together merely with glue) rather than having a sewn binding. It seems to me that a ... book should have a sewn binding! I've noticed how most books classified as "textbooks" have such very high prices yet have rather cheap bindings. It's no wonder a college education costs a small fortune these days--- the textbook price alone is enough to drive one into penury, and even then the book(s) will eventually fall apart under very heavy use.
Anyhow, this book is wonderfully useful in its content and for that reason I recommend it highly.

practical and simple

For anyone working with proteins for the first time, this is the book. It tells you how to do the basic procedures in a straightforward cookbook way, without alot of theoretical background. Old-school purists may object to this, but just as you don't need to understand Fourier optics to use a microscope, you really don't need to understand how Laemmli gels work in order to be able to use them to resolve proteins. This book just tells you how to do what you need to do, and for that purpose its really perfect. Using this book, you can singlehandedly do each technique without needing to ask anyone or read anything else, it is entirely self-contained. There aren't too many methods books that can compare with this one in terms of ease of use. I have used this book and its earlier edition for years and I highly recommend it to everyone who is starting to work with proteins.

This is very good book for people who are starting to learn protein biochemistry techniques. I have never worked before with protein biochemistry and I have gotten a lot of very important information from this book. Style of the book is very good, simple and easy to understand. Subject is described step by step starting from simple things as measuring protein concentration going to explanation more difficult protein techniques in detail. There is not only text information but also there are a lot of very useful pictures, which help to understand all procedures.

People who work with me in the lab also were impressed with this book. They worked with those techniques for years but still found a lot of useful things in this book.
